Up the Dubs

Dublin, Ireland · September – October, 2016

The first stop on our honeymoon in Ireland just so happened to be my favorite city in Ireland – Dublin. I fell in love at first sight with Dublin back in college on a spring break tour through Europe and my love for the city has never faded. Thanks to a ten year friendship with a group of lovely lads and gals who happen to call Dublin home, visits back have been somewhat frequent and returning back for our honeymoon (and Ryan’s first ever trip to the Emerald Isle) felt somewhat like going home myself.

I loved being able to show Ryan such a beautiful and history rich city – introducing him to my Irish friends turned family, drinking plenty of Guiness and Bulmers Light, walking the streets while listening to trad music spilling out from the pubs onto the cobblestone streets, shopping at Avoca for the softest and warmest handwoven wool throws, celebrating an outstanding performance by a wonderful friend and my favorite footballer and a Dublin win in the 2016 All Ireland Final (Up the Dubs!) in a pub named after him (McManamon’s will forever hold a place in my heart), taking in a St Jude’s GAA match, and finishing off our trip with a Solids music session in Bar Rua.

It was both the perfect beginning and ending to our honeymoon and I know it won’t be long before we’re on an Aer Lingus flight back to our Irish home away from home.
